Description
A varied route with forest, villages, historic cities, and river landscape. From Wezep station, you are quickly in nature. Through the forest you walk onto the rolling, open Wezepsche Heide. A beautiful area!
On the border of the Veluwe and IJssel valley lies the beautiful Landgoed Molecaten. From there you walk straight into Hattem, the Hanseatic city on the Veluwe. Halfway through the route, this historic city center is an attractive place for lunch. There are terraces, nice shops, and museums such as the Anton Pieck-, Bakkerij- and Voermanmuseum.
After Hattem, you continue walking along the dike with views of the floodplains and the river, via the striking red Hanzeboog over the IJssel. Along the Engelsche Werk, a park on the former fortifications and the Katerveersluizen, you walk along the Willemsvaart to Zwolle station.
Route
The route can be shortened to approximately 7.5 km to or from Hattem by bus.
