Woldberg

SteenwijkSteenwijk

Beautiful walk over a wooded push moraine, past meadows and across the beautiful De Eese estate. If you climb the observation tower, you can see Heerenveen and Giethoorn on a clear day. For those with a fear of heights or who dread the 131 steps, the tea house below is a great place to relax.

Description

A push moraine from a long-melted ice age, covered with forest. You don't have to go to Limburg for hollow paths, because they're here too, worn away for years by the water coming down De Woldberg.

On the flank of the mountain, a robust observation tower offers a beautiful viewpoint. Even Heerenveen and Giethoorn can be seen on a clear day. Just like the church tower of Steenwijk, the station, and the flat land with the meadows you just walked through. For those with a fear of heights or who dread the 131 steps, the tea house below is a great place to relax.
